Role: Playworker (sessional)
Location: Dundee
Hours: Sessional posts offer flexible hours, providing additional cover during peak times such as holiday periods and staff absences.
Salary: £12.20 per hour

About the role:

As a sessional playworker, you'll play an active role in the set up, delivery and development of various activities for children at The Yard. This includes both our own clubs and those we run with partner organisations. You'll work alongside our play team to create inclusive, social, recreational, and adventurous play experiences, both indoors and outdoors. From arts and crafts to outdoor adventures, you'll be responsible for ensuring every child has a memorable and enjoyable time at The Yard.


Key Responsibilities

  • Play an active role in the set-up, delivery, and development of The Yard’s play and youth.
    work provision, in line with the organisation's values, aims, and policies.
  • Ensure an approach that has the child and/or young person at its centre.
  • Encourage and enable children and young people with a range of disabilities to play and socialise in an inclusive way.
  • Maintain and develop awareness of ongoing developments in playwork, youth work, and related areas.
  • To work with children and young people as individuals and as part of a team within The Yard and outside the premises, where appropriate.
  • Maintain and develop professional relationships with parents, carers, and other organisations.

Essential:

  • Experience working with children and young people in a play or youth work setting.
  • Understanding and commitment to the values of play and youth work.
  • Flexibility and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with diverse groups.
  • Registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) and a satisfactory PVG check.


Desirable:

  • Experience working with children and young people with disabilities.
  • Pursuing or holding an SVQ 3 or higher in a relevant discipline.
  • Computer literacy and first aid training.
