Many people get in touch with us, looking to raise money for The Yard. Often however, they're aren't sure how to go about this, or what they'd like to do. Thankfully, there are so many ways people can help our cause, and most of them don't involve jumping out of a plane or crossing the River Forth in a bathtub! If you'd like to have a chat about how you can get involved please get in touch with our fundraising team at [email protected]

Here are a few more ideas!

Donate

A quick and fuss-free way to help us continue to provide vital support to disabled children and young people, as well as their families, is by donating. All donations are vital and hugely appreciated and help us continue to provide vital support to children and young people with disabilities.

Take Part in a Challenge Event

There are many terrific challenge events out there that we'd love you to represent us at. One of our top picks is The Kiltwalk, a fun and welcoming event where all donations are topped up by an amazing 50% by The Hunter Foundation! Why not get a group of friends or colleagues together and join Team Yard? More information will be available soon for 2023 including how you can apply for a FREE place with us.

If you prefer running to walking you can also visit our Events page to see what other challenges we're involved with.

Book a speaker

If you belong to an organisation, club or group who'd like to know more about The Yard we'd be delighted to come to you, talk about our work and how you can support us.

Taking on a fundraising challenge

Whether it's shaving your head or scaling Ben Nevis, we appreciate all of our fundraisers and will provide as much support and guidance as is required.

And you could always jump out of a plane if you really wanted to....or bungee like Tara did recently!

Payroll Giving

To sum up the scheme briefly, it refers to employees donating a certain amount of their pre-tax earnings to charity each month. It's very easy to set up by speaking to your work's payroll department and, as the money is taken before tax, every £1 donation essentially only costs 80p. For more information, The Institute of Fundraising have a helpful guide to Payroll Giving.

Shopping online

We are signed up with a few sites who donate to charities when you shop online. A fantastic and easy way to raise money from the comfort of your home.

Easyfundraising - create an account and choose us as your charity to benefit.

'Donate My Birthday' on Facebook

Something that has recently become quite popular is getting your Facebook friends to donate to a Birthday fundraiser. Click here for a step-by-step guide on how to do this.

Become a Charity Partner

Do you work with an organisation who have a Charity of the Year scheme you think we'd be a good fit for? If so, we'd love to hear from you, and welcome you to The Yard for a tour and a chance to meet the young people we work to support.
