Office and research volunteer As volunteer, you can gain new experiences and insights, and learn new and transferable skills, whilst knowing you are making a valuable contribution.We are a dynamic and growing team at The Yard and as a result our office team are looking to learn from the skills of the community around us. If you are keen to develop your administrative or have an eye for research but want to commit on more of an ad hoc basis then this role is perfect for you!What activities will I be involved in?Research based tasks such as internet or community based research.Working on our internal databases. Supporting fundraising projects.Collating and analysing information.General office and administration tasks depending on interests and skills.What skills and ability will I need to fulfil this role?Ability to use the internet for research, knowledge on Microsoft Office and Excel is desirable but not essential.Great communication skills and attention to detail.Ability to work independently and take the initiative.Passionate about The Yard and the services it provides in the local community.How much time will I need to offer? The role is very flexible and can fit around your other commitments.Where will I be based?The Yard's office in Edinburgh. It is important to us that you feel part of The Yard community and you will be invited to come along to our induction that will cover the Health and Safety, Children Protection, Data Protection and the organisational values of The Yard.We run a number of training courses in house that you are welcome to attend so that you can develop your knowledge of the services we provide.Specific training for databases and admin processes will continuously be given.Our fundraising team will be in regular contact and will meet you as often as is needed to provide support and guidance.What are the benefits to The Yard families?Your research and administrative support will make our team more efficient, opening new doors or other avenues that The Yard could use to develop its network or processes.Is there anything else I should know?You have to be at least 16 years old to apply for this role.
