Support us Volunteer Current volunteer roles We have a number of volunteering opportunities currently available at The Yard Edinburgh, Dundee and Fife. Volunteer with our play team Our play team support children to access different play opportunities and experiences, to challenge themselves and to explore their interests and feelings, in a spontaneous and secure setting. Playworkers, with the support of volunteers, facilitate play based on the wishes and interests of each child, helping make it happen whilst keeping every child safe. At the end of each session, we write a reflective diary, which our volunteers are encouraged to take part in, to give us feedback on the session, and influence and plan for the next visit. Please note, we currently have a waiting list for play volunteers in Edinburgh, so we are not actively recruiting for these roles. Please have a look at our other opportunities or consider volunteering in Dundee or Fife. Volunteer administrators If you have skills in data entry, databases, desk research or other office based tasks, we may be able to find a role for you. We have a variety of ongoing projects that could benefit from volunteers to support us with the admin work. This could be a regular or one-off project for you. Front of house The Yard Edinburgh is open to the public every Sunday. We're looking for friendly volunteers who can help us welcome our visitors to The Yard and tell them about what we do. You will help sign guest in and out at peak times, and meet and greet our pre-booked groups. If you are outgoing and a fast learner, this could be the role for you! Maintenance volunteers Maintenance is covered by our staff team, along with some corporate and community volunteer teams, who help us keep our playgrounds looking their best. If you are able to assist us with basic maintenance, such as bike repairs or gardening, we would love to hear from you. Volunteer with our fundraising team Volunteers help our fundraising team in two key ways - community fundraising and administrative support. This could include research, helping on information stalls and at community events, placing and managing collecting cans in local businesses, support at The Yard events, street collections, bag packs and bucket shakes. How to apply To apply to volunteer at The Yard, please send us an email. We will then send you an application pack and ask you for some more information, including your availability, so that we can match you to our available opportunities. We will also ask you to come along to a recruitment evening at The Yard so we can get to know each other better. If we are a good match, then we move on to references and other required checks. Read our transparency statement for volunteer applicants.
