Brave couple Debbie and James Cameron, from Crossgates in Fife, will abseil from Scotland’s iconic Forth Rail Bridge to celebrate their first wedding anniversary on Saturday 1st July.

Debbie said: “Instead of cards and good wishes for our first anniversary, we are asking our friends and family to sponsor our abseil and donate to The Yard – a different take on the paper element of a first anniversary.

“I have known of The Yard and its amazing work through fundraising and volunteering over the last three years. When I saw they had places for the Forth Rail Bridge abseil, it caught my eye, as it was the date of my first wedding anniversary. Then it hit me…why don’t we celebrate our anniversary by taking part!

My husband James and I are both really looking forward to the abseil. Living in Fife, we often commute, drive and walk across the bridges. To be able to abseil from the Forth Rail Bridge while raising funds for such a good cause is a great opportunity.”

We are delighted to be one of the main charities selected to be partners of this year's abseil, organised by the Rotary Club of South Queensferry. We are so grateful to Debbie and James for choosing The Yard to benefit from this amazing challenge. We still have places available, so if you would like to abseil for us, please get in touch.

Is your new year's resolution to feel the fear and do it anyway? On your bucket list to conquer a fear of heights? Sign up here today before all the places go! All we ask is that you raise a minimum of £150 in sponsorship. If you would like any more info about the day, please email our fundraising team.
