The Yard Fife officially opened its doors on Tuesday 11 October 2016 at the Argos Centre in Kirkcaldy, offering a safe place to play for disabled children and young people in Fife. Huge thanks to all our families, supporters, staff, volunteers and funders who came along.

Following our recent expansion into Dundee, we are really excited to bring our brand of creative indoor and outdoor adventure play for disabled children, as well as practical and emotional support and respite for their siblings, parents and carers, to Fife.

Disabled children and their families can now drop in and play from 10.30am to 3.30pm every Sunday in Kirkcaldy. The service has already been running for several weeks and uptake from local families has been fantastic so far.

We are delighted to be able to bring The Yard spirit of fun and friendship to families in Fife. It cuts down on travel time for families who are already using our Edinburgh service and allows us to reach even more new families who need our support. We look forward to welcoming and working with lots more Fife families soon.

Our expansion into Fife was made possible by funding from BBC Children in Need, People’s Postcode Lottery, The RS MacDonald Charitable Trust and The Christina Mary Hendrie Trust.

Local dad Neil Muirhead, who attends The Yard with his son Nicholas aged four, said:

“When we went along to The Yard for the first time, we had excellent help from the friendly staff who were happy to explain everything to us. This is a great place and my son loved it, which is the most important thing. New activities and toys are being added each week, so the kids have a ball and are always eager to return.”
